Grafton Branch CWA September fashion parade cancelled

Our August meeting was held in our CWA rooms on Friday 14 in our Duke Street rooms with 14 members present and four apologies were accepted. A warm welcome to Anne McLellan who has transferred from CWA Kempsey branch.

Due to the COVID-19 virus Australian national anthem could not be sung, President Carol Smith recited the CWA Motto, and acknowledge to the country at the commencement of meeting.

The September 8 CWA a fashion parade was to be held, however we were notified that Black Pepper franchise across NSW were closing their stores. A subsequent letter was sent thanking the manager and staff of Grafton Black Pepper for all their support in fund raising events Grafton CWA.

North Coast Group meeting which was to be held in Iluka on August 19 has been cancelled as suitable accommodation could not be found to comply with COVID-19 regulations.

CWA Awareness Week is from September 6-13. The theme this year is Domestic Violence.

Members have been asked to bring a parcel to fill a hamper for ‘mothers pack’, and a toy or item of clothing for a child.

Cookery item this meeting is ‘butter cake’. Vicki Fletcher from South Grafton Evening Branch was invited to judge the cakes that were presented, and the winners were: 1st – Narelle Saunders, 2nd – Lesley McFarlane, 3rd – Sharon Davison; congratulations to the winners.

The cookery item for our October meeting is ‘carrot and ginger loaf’.

Our next meeting will be held Friday September 11 in our Duke Street rooms, with morning tea being served at 9.30am and the meeting to commence at 10am. Any ladies wishing to join us will be made most welcome.

Handicraft mornings are held 2nd and 4th Monday at 9.30am in our Duke Street rooms. Any ladies interested in joining handicraft morning will be made welcomed, enjoy a cuppa, and a chat.
