Shorten & Maxted win GDSC Pairs Carnival

Played under near perfect winter weather Matty Shorten and Gregg Maxted have taken out the Annual Pairs Carnival with three game wins and healthy margins.

The pair combined well, and this is the first major victory for Matty as a skip. A close second and also in the money was the ever-consistent Craig Dalton with Allan Gough, third place was taken out by President Tony Lickiss with help from Des Clarke, fourth place was dual club champion Leith Basset with Peter Madden and fifth place Robbie Power who always seems to be in the money and his lead was Robert Ulrick.

Round winners went to Rummy Cutmore and Darren Lindner regular visitors from Park Beach Bowls Club, Tom Macdonald back from annual leave with Brian Hall and Mark Walsh with Clubman Terry Glass.

Neatest card prize donated by Mark Walsh was Derek Morgan.

The club would like to thank all organisers, especially score keepers Jan and Garry Tobin, and of course sponsors Riverview Funerals and GDSC.

Our next tournament will be the September Triples to be held September 9-10 and entries will be open soon.
