Ritchies partnership – giving back to local community

The last 3 years have seen a surge in Australian’s seeking relief for basics such as food, with rising inflation adding to the pressure of COVID-19. 13.8% of people are worried about affording enough food to eat according to the Salvation Army.

To help support the work of The Salvation Army, Ritchies supermarkets are partnering with food brands Gravox and Heinz to help give back to the community and those who are in need.

This month, Ritchies Supermarkets are launching Pantry Week, a buy one, give one scheme that will run from September 7 to September 13 in an effort to support The Salvation Army’s efforts. For every Heinz or Gravox product purchased at Ritchie’s supermarkets Australia wide, Heinz and Gravox will donate one to The Salvation Army.

A spokesperson for Ritchies Supermarkets said The Salvation Army provided relief to 128,000 Australians and Ritchies wanted to do their part to support their mission, especially in the current environment putting further stress on families. “We expect we can donate about 30,000 items to those in need, but the opportunity is unlimited with the support of our shoppers.”

Heinz and Gravox products in the same number and with the same total price as sold during this period will be donated to The Salvation Army to distribute through their networks and to where the products are needed most.

Anderson Carneiro, Commercial Director at Heinz Australia says, “As a food company we have a responsibility to do what we can to support those in need and continue our donation efforts with community partners.”

“Ritchies is a community focused business that really cares about people and we’re proud to partner with them to launch Pantry Week. Pantry Week is part of our mission to support communities we operate in while also helping customers give back to those in need while completing their weekly shop.”

Ritchie’s partnership with Kraft Heinz aligns with its community benefits program where it has given $52 million to local clubs, schools and charities since 1993.
