PIPS Family Fun Day a huge success

Event organisers have revealed the Palmers Island Public School Family Fun Day on September 10 was a terrific success, with an estimated crowd of over 1000 joining in the fun and festivities.

The event was held to help raise funds to replace canteen and kitchen equipment at the school which was destroyed during the floods which devastated the region earlier this year.

“We really put a lot of work into the day to help raise money for the canteen restoration and hoped for a good turnout”, said P&C President Belinda Novicky.

“The support we received from the community was overwhelming, and we are much closer to reopening that canteen than was planned thanks to everyone who came along.”

Despite the event being postponed by a week due to the wet weather, Ms Novicky revealed crowd numbers were up from the inaugural Family Fun Day in 2019, and it has become a community signature event.

The Palmers Island Public School P&C would like to thank all the sponsors, school families and carers, PIPS teachers, volunteers, Lions Club, SES, music and dance performers to include Soul Ambition, Maclean Scottish Town Dance and Clarence Valley Consortium, market stalls holders and the community for helping make the day a big success.
