On Monday November 23 Yamba Veterans played an 18 holes single Stableford. A little rain overnight made for perfect playing conditions and the newly renovated greens were a delight to putt on. We had a field of 37 men and 20 ladies, which included visitors from Hervey Bay and Campbelltown. The men’s nett winner was Barry Fisher with a great score of 42 points and I had the pleasure of playing with him. The nett r/up the very consistent Lester English with 39. To win a pro ball one needed 33 points or better and they went to Keith Cromack 39, Iain Gosling 37, Doug Luckie 37, Peter Sweetman 37, Bruce Zietsch 36, Alex Podbereski 36, Harold Roberts 36, Peter Cavanagh 35, Col Cromack 35, Des Hall 35, Rick O’Mara 34 and Alekos Miltiadou 33. Men’s NTP winners were on 3rd hole Rick O’Mara with 650cms and on the 12th Bruce Zietsch 590cms. The ladies nett winner was a visitor Rhonda O’Mara with 36 points from our much loved and very consistent golfer Lucy Thompson with 33. Ball rundown for ladies included Barbara Wood 33, Janine Zietsch 32, Jane Cromack 31, Janice Darr 31, Daphne Hinshaw 31, Marie Leonard 30 and Glen Czarnota 29. NTPs for ladies were 9th hole second shot 0-30 Daphne Hinshaw, 9th second shot 31-45 no winner. On the 17th hole second shot 0-30 was Glen Czarnota and 17th second shot 31-45 Dulcie Nurse. Raffle winners on the day were Lester English (first and second prize) and Mike Thurbon. John Kenny Yamba Tramps Golf Our game last Sunday saw the heavens open up as Huey tossed it down, so much so the old adage that “it never rains on the Tramps” was completely thrown out the window as only one group finished & everyone else ran for cover in the clubhouse! Not so bad as for a visiting group from Gold Coast’s Palm Beach who had to pack up & go without even getting on the course! We decided today to not try & work out any scores & gave everyone a golf ball for turning up! We still ran our raffle & Mal won again! Next week front 9.
