Yamba SLSC Open day this Sunday
Everyone is invited to come down to Yamba SLSC this Sunday between 10-12pm for the annual Surf Life Saving Australia Surf Club Open Day. Have a wander around the clubhouse and view the photos, talk to the patrol members and watch what the “Life Savers of the Future” do during Nippers.
Brent Sahlqvist, off 150 seconds, took first place from a field of 22 swimmers in Sundays Carl Schaeffer Handicap Swim. Matt Eke, off 50 seconds placed second and Brisbane local Paul Quirk, off 100 seconds, was third. This popular surf swim is held every Sunday morning, with registrations at 11am, and the swim starting at 11.30am.
A combined SRC/Bronze Medallion Course started on Sunday. This course continues Wednesday evenings at 7pm and Sunday mornings at 9am. A Basic Beach Management Course is being held on Saturday 31st October. Enrolments need to be into the office by Sunday 18th October.
Main Beach was a hive of activity as Yamba Nippers resumed on Sunday. Registrations are still being taken. Merchandise and memberships need to be cash only please as there are no EFTPOS facilities at the club. Payments for memberships can also be made online via Yamba SLSC website. U12’s parents are on set up this Sunday, please be at the beach by 9am to assist.
Yamba SLSC meat raffles are on every Saturday evening at the Yamba Golf and Country Club. Jan & John Snelling, Alan Schofield and Warwick Mawhinney will be selling tickets from 5.30pm with the draw starting at 6.30pm. With 33 fantastic meat trays to be won, go along and try your luck!
