Neil Drummond holes out on St Patricks Day With intermittent showers not deterring the brave 140 golfers chasing the midweek Stableford prize, one large shower was enough to chase a few afternoon groups back to the club house. The shot of the day went to Neil Drummond who holed out on the 9th for his first competition hole in one, great shot Neil. A Grade saw the return of Al Morrison who after a few years away from the game returned 40pts with a couple of wipes, 2nd went to John Daley with 39pts 3rd was Andre Rizk who is always on the podium with 38pts. A Reserve was Stewart Hass with the score of the day 41pts edging out Ken Dewar with 39pts and 3rd went to the sometimes in form Greg LaForest with 38pts. B Grade saw Chris Durrington get lucky with 39pts 2nd was Maclean Member Ross Turner with 36pts on a count back from John Dwyer 3rd with 36pts. C Grade winner was Ardy Denehy with 38pts 2nd went to Peter Russo with 37pts and 3rd was Terry Hicks with 36pts. NTPs were: On the SeaFire Steak and Seafood 3rd Ross Turner 200cm, the Peter Campbell Physio 9th was of course Neil Drummond hole in one, the 10th SeaFire Harold Roberts 179cm, the Yamba Barber shop 12th went to Ted Davis 172cm and the SeaFire 17th went to Chris Holst at 310cm Balls to 34 with 16 on the back 9. Saturdays Irish Team Stableford A field of 128 players battled out the Irish Stableford team’s event with the winners shooting 86pts, Terry Lawes, Dave Bruton, Graham Edwards and Peter Hyslop took home the prize. Runners up were all visitors with Maclean’s Ross Turner, Geoff Johnson and SGA Mark Phillips, Ben Ware returning 85pts. 3rd went to Jim Cope, Michael Killeen, Kevin Eckersley and Alan Syle who returned 84pts. The team that finished 4th were Wayne Rice, Neil Drummond, Brian Smith and John Atherton with 83pts. NTPs: Max Sweetman on the John Wright Pro shop 3rd at 147cm, the Peter Campbell Physio 9th Warwick Mawhinney at 524cm, the SeaFire 9th went to David Miles 500cm, the SeaFire 12th was Des Hall 274cm, the Bean Scene 17th saw Dave Cruden finish 195cm and the 2nd shot SeaFire 17th went to Marty Harris 96cm. Balls went to 81pts with 53 on the back 9. Sunday Mixed Forty three players fought it out for the mixed prize with the team of Marilyn and Kevin Eckersley, Marg and Pete Julian taking 1st with 87pts. Runners up were Guy and Janelle Carpenter with Dale and Phil Ramm returning 85pts, 3rd place went to Jim and Penny Cope with Lexie and Bruce Walker 84pts on a count back.
