Yamba Lady Golfers travel to Iluka

Last Wednesday a number of Yamba ladies travelled to Iluka to play in the annual fund-raiser for Maclean Hospital Ladies Auxiliary. A big thank you to all from Yamba who donated items for the raffle as well as cash, which all helped in raising a record-breaking amount of $1,000. These funds will go toward the purchase of much-needed equipment for our hospital. Despite breaking her driver on her very first shot, Ann Groom of Yamba won Div 1 with 32 points, and Dale Ramm won Div 2 with 31c/b. Jenny Muir was Div 3 winner with the best score of the day – 37 points. Among the runners-up were Kathy Parker 3rd in Div 1, 31c/b, Verna Wright 3rd Div 2, 29c/b and Julie Vernol 3rd in Div 3, 28. Winning the pins from Yamba were Janelle Carpenter, Kathy Parker and Lynne Macfarlane. Ball winners were Lyn Rowland, Margaret Solomon, Trish McDermid, Lynn Macfarlane, Dot Latham, Julie Campbell, Lee Daley and Jane Bonner. Chris Harris and Margaret Solomon both won meat trays and other raffle winners were Chris Harris, Jennifer Fagan, Di Sigle and Margery Allison. Well done to all Yamba winners and many thanks to Iluka Lady Golfers for a wonderful day of golf followed by a very welcome sausage sizzle with salads. Iluka ladies also provided a delicious afternoon tea. Back at Yamba on Friday were 34 competitors in the Single Stableford which was won by Chris Harris 33 c/b with Carolyn Chester 2nd, 33 and Margaret Solomon 3rd, 32 c/b. Balls went to 30 c/b and pins were won by Darrie Nightingale – Tom’s Chinese Restaurant 3, Rin Hulka – Retireinvest 3/2 as well as Yamba Pharmacy 17/2, Margaret Solomon – Peter Campbell Physiotherapy 9, Lesley Love – Kitchen to Table 10, and Robyn Brockwell, just back from southern climes – Yamba’s Fisho 12 along with Wato’s Fish & Burgers 17. Kathy Parker led the field of 5 on Saturday with 34 and the r/up was Darrie Nightingale 31 c/b. A welcome inclusion in the field was Johanne Simmons from Coolangatta/Tweed Heads Golf Course.
