Maclean Ladies Golf

It was a very hot and steamy day which caused four of our ladies to pull out of the competition, after a few cold drinks and a bit of shade they recovered well. Many thanks to our birthday girl Jenny Apps for sponsoring the 3rd monthly medal and the 1st round of the Handicap Championships on Wednesday March 9. Ros Jacobs also celebrated her birthday, it is good have Ros back playing golf again after a short break, Marlene Roberts was also welcomed back, Nellie Kellie also paid us a visit, and it was good to see Nellie. Next week is our Irish 4BBB Stableford select is kindly sponsored by “Kula by Tara”, don’t forget girls to wear green, Bert the barman is also celebrating with us by wearing green. We wish Helen Graney all the best for her operation on March 21, also on the sick list is Molly Plunkett who broke her ankle escaping from Harvey Norman, Helen McFarlane with a wrist problem (maybe too much golf Helen) and Joy Studdon with a strained ankle, there won’t be any girls left to play golf if they keep knocking themselves around. Pat Harris played some nice golf to come in as the winner of the monthly medal for Div 1 on a count back from Di Moore (better luck next time Di), Div 2 monthly medal winner was Gai Greenwood, runner up Lexie Simmons. Pat also won the Div 1 gross and putting, Div 2 gross Kate Hemmy. Nearest the pins: Div 1 Di Moore, Div 2 E Piddington, O/all 7th K Wiblen, O/all 11th K Wiblen. Club Balls: C Forrester, T Hogg, S Forsythe, C Parker and K Hemmy. Who was the lady hiding under the table… Judy parks, who won the environmental prize for Div 1, Sally Weeks won Div 2 environmental prize. Good golfing to the girls who are going to Kyogle to play in the Women’s Golf Northern Rivers Veterans Championships on Monday. The Club is starting up a mixed event on Sundays and would like all the ladies to join in. Once a month, $20 includes the game plus a BBQ lunch. Chris Forrester
