Wednesday’s popular 9 holes skins event was taken out by Simon Commerford with a solid round of 4 skins followed by Paul O’Halloran and George Key, both with 3 skins. Thursdays Medley Single Stableford saw Darryl Newton edge out Simon Commerford on a countback to take the trophy with 39 points. Darryl’s 26 points on the back nine was really hot golf. Simon’s been on fire as well with 25 points on the front nine last week. NTPs went to Ross Turner on the 2nd, Noel Butcher the 7th, Phil McGuire the 11th and Richard Parker the 17th. Pro balls went down to 34 points on a countback. Visitors came from Yamba, Palmer Colonial, Grafton and Randwick Golf Clubs. Bruce Wiseman hit into the tuckaroos on the 18th, then managed to run into one in his cart as well. Greg Dickinson put his 2nd shot on the 9th hole into a hire cart outside the clubhouse, where he found the ball sitting in the ball holder. Another amazing trick on the 9th! Saturdays much anticipated game was the annual 4 person Irish Teams event sponsored by the evergreen Bob Thompson who put on excellent trophies. Amidst all the shenanigans going on some terrific golf was played as well, especially by the winning team of Greg Saul, Daniel Kelly, Scott Dinham and John Porter with 91 points. Runners up were Ted Harvey, Wayne Mackaway, Barry Connelly and Rick Brenton on 90 points. The 2nd hole was the Leprechaun hole where the furthest from the pin took the trophy. Mick Rogers at 27 metres was the winner and showed his putting skills to make the par. Wayne Hinchcliffe didn’t take long to return to form in his first Saturday back taking out the NTP on the 7th and nailing the birdie. John O’Keeffe took the NTP on the 11th and Don Grumley the 17th, again. Robert Fuller won the Thistle Hole. The pro-ball rundown went to 86 points. The putt-off event on the practice green following the game was the closest to the hole without going in. Ron Hubbard took this out. His team reckoned Mother had been practising all day!
