The first day of June brought cool conditions to the course at Yamba for the 55 ladies who competed in a Single Stableford. Robyn Wiblen was a very convincing winner in A Grade with 39 points from Pauline McKinnon 35c/b. Visiting from Coolangatta/Tweed Heads was Marlene Protheroe who won B Grade with 36 points. Runner-up was Phyllis Telfer 34. Balls ran to 31 c/b and pins were won by Lee Daley – Yamba Medical Centre 3, Liz Dwyer – Yamba Florist, Debbie May 3/2, Ann Groom – Yamba Pro Shop 9, Robyn Wiblen – Yamba Fair Butchery 10, Lina Holden – The Shoe Boutique 12, Jeannie Doolan – Clovelly Fashions 17, Maclean 17 and Noni Rixon – The Block 17/2. There was a field of 10 in the 9 holes’ comp which was played on the back 9. Winner was the consistent Jeni Moody 15 who also took the pin on 12. The Giveaway Sponsors vouchers were distributed thus: Lynne White – Civic Video, Jenny Muir – Priceline Pharmacy, Jean Whitby – Spar Connection, Irene Williams – Yamba Florist and Pauline McKinnon – Yamba Physio. The raffle was generously donated by Lina Holden. It raised $111 and was won by Lynne White. A 100 Club draw was also conducted and won by Sandra Russo with 2nd prize going to Jane Bonner. Despite threatening skies and dire weather forecasts, 27 ladies played in the Single Stroke 1st Round of the Club Championships. Winning A Grade was Trish McDermid with net 71 from Glen Czarnota 77. Jennifer Fagan was gross winner 93 and Lee Daley was the best putter with 32. Winning B Grade was Lesley Love 70 from Jen O’Neill 75. Gross winner was Pauline McKinnon 101 with Toni Elliot winning the putting 32c/b. Balls went to 78c/b and NTP winners were Carolyn Chester – Tom ‘s Chinese Restaurant 3, Jen O’Neill – Retireinvest 3/2 as well as Wato’s Fish & Burgers 17/2, Lynne Donsworth – Peter Campbell Physiotherapy 9 and also Kitchen to Table 10, Pauline McKinnon – Yamba’s Fisho 12 and Di Sigle – Yamba Pharmacy 17.
