Yamba Golf ‘Surf Club Charity Day’ next Sunday

With Thursday’s men’s competition given up for the Veterans Week of golf 146 players fronted up for the annual Captain versus Presidents day in spectacular conditions. The winner of this prestigious event was the Presidents side with the narrowest of margins 2428 to 2425. This is the first time that anyone can remember that the Captain side has ever lost. A Grade winner was Graham Kulmar with 40pts, 2nd place was Peter McGrath with 38pts on a c/b from Warren Thoms 38. A Reserve was won by Dave McQueen with 39pts 2nd was Rusty Cain with 38 on a c/b from Nick Anderson 38. Gus Young won the best dressed and B Grade with his purple dolphin motif and 41pts on a c/b from Jan Dampney 41 and 3rd was Gabba Bodycote with 39. C Grade went to Peter Auliff who returned easily the score of the day with 45pts, Harold Roberts finished 2nd with 42 and 3rd went to Perry Robinson with 41. NTPs were taken home by, on the 3rd SeaFire Steak and Seafood hole Paul Reid with 193cm, the 9th Peter Campbell Physio hole was John Maguire 40cm, the SeaFire 10th was Geoff Flett 235cm, the SeaFire 12th was Ken Dewar 143cm, the Bean Scene 17th was Brian Jeans at 442cm and the 2nd shot 17th was Gordon McHugh at 81cm. Balls were to 35 with 18 on the back. Sunday Mixed Forty players contested the 2bbb v’s Par event with one of the first groups returning +10 and then proceeded to sit around till the last group to come in a knock them off on a count back, commiserations Captain Glenn and Carolyn. The winners of the day was the team comprising of Bruce and Janine (champion) Zietsch with +10 on a c/b from Glenn Scarffe and Carolyn Chester +10 3rd place went to Kate Thomson and Greg LaForest with +8. NTPs were won by Bruce Zietsch and Lily Reid on the SeaFire 3rd, the Kahbu Hair 9th was Bill Williams and Sandra Wallace, the 10th The Block Café hole was won by Bruce Lulham and Susie Stokes, the 12th Sassafras hole was Ken Bodycote and Jennifer Fagan.
