Yamba Golf

One hundred and forty three players enjoyed the sunshine and improving greens at Yamba contesting the mid week Stableford competition. A Grade winner was the ever green Bruce Lulham with 40pts, 2nd went to Theo Agiannitis with 39pts and 3rd was Ashlea Butcher with 36pts. A Reserve went to Don Mailing with 41pts from Andrew Bolte 40pts and 3rd was Sunny Bill Williams with 39pts. The winner of B Grade was Jan Dampney with 40pts from Ron Bines 39pts on a count back from Iain Gosling 39pts. C Grade winner and score of the day went to Michael Killeen with a great round of 45pts, 2nd went to Peter Auliff 42pts and Chris Sharp was 3rd with 41pts. Nearest to the pins were; Dave Bruton on the SeaFire Steak and Seafood 3rd 80cm, the Peter Campbell Physio 9th was Garry Downes 272cm, the SeaFire 10th went to Greg Wyllie 252cm, the Yamba Barber Shop 12th was Ron Bines at 91cm and the SeaFire 17th went to Ken Hall 339cm. Balls for the day were to a respectable 35pts with 17 on the back. Saturday Stableford A field of 127 golfers braved the clouds on Saturday chasing the prizes for the weekend stableford and with preferred lies taken off the course the scores went back to normal. A Grade winner with a solid round 43 pts went to Greg Little, 2nd went to Rock Bailey 42pts and 3rd was Captain Glenn Scarffe with 37 on a count back. A Reserve was taken out by Albert Fox with 40pts, 2nd went to Warren Hughes 38pts and 3rd AGAIN was Bill Williams with 37pts on a count back. The winner of B Grade was Pip Dixon with 40pts, 2nd went to President Head with 40pts and 3rd was Dave Schwarz 39pts on a count back. C Grade winner Bruce Ginn with 41pts from Brian Dwyer 35pts and 3rd went to another Thursday winner Michael Killeen with 34pts. Nearest to the Pins: on the John Wright Pro Shop 3rd Kevin Lowe was 128cm, the Peter Campbell physio 9th went to Glen Stephens 18cm, the 10th SeaFire steak and Seafood hole was Rod Dahlberg at 314cm, the SeaFire 12th went to Bob Burke 50cm, the 17th Bene Scene hole was Peter Jones 179cm and the 2nd shot 17th went to Tony Bromilow at 143cm.
