Would love to work with Council
Ed,
The Greater Maclean Community Action Group would like to thank all those supporters and members of our community (some from as far away as Waterview Heights, Yamba and Bangalow) who came to our Picnic in the Park on Saturday week. It was overcast and often raining, but they hung in there, taking advantage of the shelter of their much-loved camphor laurel trees.
We give special thanks to the Lions Club for their BBQ, Toyworld (Maclean), Maclean Flower Box, artiste extraordinaire Linda El-Mir, and media representatives Lyn Mowbray and Debrah Novak.
We put up a priorities board, asking people to choose (out of a long wish list) just one thing they would like for McLachlan Park’s redevelopment. Retaining the camphor laurels – 61, a boardwalk got 4, a second pontoon – 3, and a toilet renovation – 3.
There were also requests for local outdoor art work, and a dog-friendly area.
A long Messages to CVC Banner was sent to Council and the councillors. We would love to work with Council to achieve a mutually satisfactory, cost-effective outcome for both the council and the community. We don’t see why local contractors and Council’s own workforce couldn’t achieve what we all want done, and what we want to retain.
Nicki Holmes,
Greater Maclean
Community Action Group
