Kathy Parker’s “almost” Hole in One on hole 3. If it had gone in the hole, it would have been Kathy’s 3rd Hole in One on that particular hole. Image: contributed

When nearly is “almost” good enough?

Last Wednesday’s conditions were hot and humid for our Pro Shop’s Ladies’ Summer competition.

With 60 players, it was great to have a repeat visit from a number of players from Grafton. Highlights included Lynne Donsworth’s fabulous score of 41 to win Div 2 and Kathy Parker’s “almost” Hole in One on the 3rd hole. What a shot!

Lee Daley won Div 1 (37pts) ahead of talented Grafton youngster, Maddi McKee, (35pts); Jenny Dewar followed closely as 2nd r/up (34pts c/b). In Div 2, Lynne Donsworth’s closest rivals were Julie Campbell (38pts) and Denise Ginn (37pts) while Jo Foley won Div 3 (35pts), beating Nadene Carroll (33pts c/b) and Jennifer Dolman (33pts c/b).

The ball rundown went to 31pts c/b.

The NTP were won by 3rd – Kathy Parker, 12th – Jacky Penfold and 17th (2nd shot) – Annalese McKee (Grafton).

We had 26 ladies who toughed it out in very trying weather for last Friday’s competition. Strong blustery winds and heavy showers persisted throughout the morning and the scores reflected the difficult playing conditions.

Janelle Carpenter won Div 1 (33pts) ahead of Lyn Rowland (32pts c/b) and Leigh Robertson (32pts c/b). The ball rundown went to 31pts and Kathy Parker, Glen Czarnota and Leigh Robertson all won balls for their NTP shots.

Cooler and more stable conditions were evident for Saturday’s competition until the heavens opened just before the completion of the round. Mary Hogan won in a field of 12 ladies with 35pts. Kylie Lowe was r/up, and Jennifer Fagan won the NTP.

With this week being the last of the Summer competition, ladies are reminded to please collect any vouchers or any balls that may have been won since the commencement of the competition back in December. Many thanks also go to Jamie Corkill in the Pro Shop for his generous sponsorship over the past nine weeks. It has been very much appreciated.
