The Valley that just keeps on giving….

Girls (and boys) just wanna have fun… and that’s exactly what they did on Saturday night at the 80s Flood Raiser held in support of the Northern Rivers flood victims. After weeks of preparation by enthusiastic volunteers, the night was hailed a huge success with party goers dancing the night away to hits from the 80s, courtesy of DJ, Phil Eckersley from Ecko’s Music & Lighting Hire. Disco balls, leg warmers, leather jackets and Spandex brought back memories of a time when we were all ‘walkin’ on sunshine’.
It has been a challenging year in the northern rivers, with many asked to contribute to fundraisers to support flood victims. However, businesses of the Clarence Valley dug deep once again. Numerous donations meant we were able to hold raffles and an auction bringing the total funds raised to over $11,400. Our thanks go out to those businesses and party goers who supported the event.
A huge pat on the back needs to go to Kathy, the brainchild of the fundraiser, for her unwavering passion in supporting the flood victims.
Thanks to the amazing staff at the CV Independent, Lynda, Megan, Fran and Lauren for weaving their magic to help make the night a success. Great job girls.
Thanks, must also go to Ann Mazzitelli, who kept everyone focussed and Judithann Forester, for her strict accounting protocols. Judithann will keep us updated as to amounts raised.
Keep an eye out for next week’s edition where we will thank those who supported us with auction and raffle items.
The donation line is still open at the NAB in Yamba and the account details are:

Heartfelt thanks to all, from the organisers
