The Tartan Brushy Club

We were once again entertained by the Country Ramblers at the end of the month and our trading table was well patronised as usual. Glad gave us an interesting talk on Australian flag history and design prior to Anzac Day remembrance. As Mothers Day arrived our ‘Jackie’ brightened our day by dressing as a very pregnant mum, passing around very life-like baby dolls causing a great lot of laughter for our members. ‘Live wires’ entertained us and Westpac Helicopter representative visited us with information on this wonderful service. We were also joined by Cowper School students for the afternoon activities. On another club day, Bill Kearns entertained us with more of his wonderful poems and our own ‘Jackie’ gave us a laugh with some of her new poems. One of our members turned 80 on this particular day and her family provided a lovely birthday cake which we all shared. We had a visit from Australian hearing, who gave an informative talk on how important it is to notice any deterioration in our hearing and informed us how we can be assisted by making an appointment and making use of available hearing aids. This year’s Nonagenarian Day was celebrated with a huge birthday cake which was shared by all. What a privilege to reach a healthy and happy 90. ‘Double Trouble’ entertained us and our thanks go to our special guests who shared the celebration with us. To complete the day the Cowper School students sang for us. We thank our kitchen volunteers for spoiling us with a lovely meal on this special day. We are now looking forward to our trip to Chatsworth Island which will take place very soon.
