Additional works at the South Grafton pool and gym complex will delay the planned re-opening of the hydrotherapy pool for about two weeks. Clarence Valley Council acting works and civil director, Peter Birch, said the additional hydrotherapy pool works included: • repairing and painting the pool basin; • increased the storage area; • replacing the balance tank lid with a lighter lid; • repairing erosion in the pool gutter, and; • replacing valves for shut down/back washing. “Otherwise, works are progressing well on the main pool roof structure and we are scheduled for completion on time by May 15,” he said. “We were going to open the hydrotherapy pool first and the main pool area later, but with the additional works we now intend to open both at the same time.” Mr Birch said council also received grant money through Local Government NSW with the support of Family & Community Services (FACS) for the installation of a hoist, electric door and an adult change table for the changing places room. “We apologise for the delay, but we will have a much better all accessible facility when these works are complete,” he said. The Grafton Olympic Pool will remain open till May 1 while the Yamba Community Heated Pool on Angourie Road will is open Monday – Friday 6am – 1pm and Weekends 10am – 2pm. Season pass holders can access both facilities if required.
