‘Singin’ into Spring 2023

The Lower Clarence Community Choir has been rehearsing for several months for our popular annual Spring concerts.

As usual we have a varied programme of music including works by Mozart and Schubert, some folk and popular songs, music from stage and screen and some beautiful sacred pieces.

As well as our choir of about 40 singers, we are lucky to have the Maclean Music Academy Ensemble (our own local chamber orchestra) and a new group, String Sensations joining us. There’s always a few surprise acts and fingers crossed they’ll not let us down.

Our wonderful conductor and music director Sr Anne Gallagher OAM will be in charge and our much-admired accompanist Gwen Berman OAM will be keeping us in pitch and on track. We are so very fortunate to have such accomplished musicians leading us. Connie de Dassell our president for a great many years died in January and is sorely missed by us. Her positivity, encouragement, and vibrant personality were so valued always but especially at our performances.

The first concert is on Saturday September 16 at 2pm in the Maclean Public School Hall and our second on Sunday September 17 at 2pm at Yamba Bowling Club Auditorium.

Tickets are $15 (concession $10) available at the door and school students are able to attend for free. You can also pay by card this year on our “square”.

Proceeds from the concerts will be donated to the Maclean Hospital Auxiliary and the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Appeal as usual. Both are so vital to the local committee. We do hope you can attend and fill our venues with Spring Fever. We all enjoy performing for you.
