Simple Pleasures

As we live with life’s modern complexities it’s refreshing for the Residents of Mareeba Aged Care to find some pure joy in the simplest of pleasures – a hand-built ice cream cart and an ice cream treat.

With many thanks to the Townsend Men’s Shed who beautifully crafted the brightly coloured the ice cream cart, it brings a return to cherished memories and a celebration of one of life’s little joys.

Residents eagerly anticipate the carts arrival when they hear the cart’s bell coming down the hallway.

“It’s not just about the ice cream” explains Director of Nursing Leanne Hancock with a smile. “It’s about bringing happiness to our community because everyone deserves a little sweetness in their day.”

Beyond the taste buds, the ice-cream cart brings residents and carers together, sharing a laugh, sometimes a memory or two of the good old days and provides another way to enrich all our lives.

These are the little moments make a difference, bringing a smile to everyone’s face.

So, in a world that moves at a dizzying pace, Mareeba’s ice cream cart serves as a gentle reminder to slow down and savour life’s simple pleasures every day.
