In a competition hotly contested by more than 60 ladies last Wednesday, and in a thrilling play-off over 2 holes, Suzanne Scott and Wendy Shanahan became this year’s Foursomes Champions with a score of 140 on a count-back and play-off against Janelle Carpenter and Janine Zietsch also 140, who earned the title of Runners-up. A Grade net winners were Jill L Brown and Paula O’Keefe 114.75 from Jennifer Fagan and Carrie Aitken 117. B Grade Champions were Kathy Parker and Julie Campbell 158 from runners up Judy Palich and Glen Czarnota 169. Net winners in this grade were Chris Harris and Lesley Love 120.75 from Penny Cope and Deirdre Gough 122.5. Winner of the 9 holers this week was Judy Turnbull with 16 points and the NTP was won by Trish White. Lucky draw winners were: Rosemary Gibb Civic Video, Glen Czarnota The Friendly Grocer, Robyn Brockwell Priceline Pharmacy, Jane McCormack Sole Connection and Meg Kulmar Yamba Florist. Raffle winner was Dot Newton. I am told that many golfers prefer a golf cart to a caddie, because a cart cannot count, criticise or laugh A few optimistic ladies (including myself) started off in Friday’s drizzle, but waded off after a few holes, only to learn that the course had been closed. Robyn Brockwell and Janine Zeitsch were half-way through the final round of the Matchplay Championship when this happened and will continue with the rest of the game when weather and time permits.
