Jen Townsend is Grafton Ladies Golf Champion
The final round of our 72-hole championships for 2015 was played last Wednesday with Jen Townsend holding onto her lead after round three to win her maiden Ladies Club Championship. Jen finished on 353 after sinking a monster putt for a great birdie on the par five 18th hole to come in one shot ahead of last year’s winner Sharyn O’Grady.
After driving her tee shot into the hazard on the 16th, Jen thought that she had all but blown her chances. However, she rallied to come home with a par on the 17th as well as the birdie on the last.
Special thanks were given by Jen in her speech to her playing partners, Janette, Jean and Marianne for their steadying influence in the final round and of the “good battle” that she had had with Sharyn over the four rounds.
President Heather Robinson presented an excited Jen with the historic Ann Bawden Perpetual Brooch.
