Raising the road to Yamba

Ed,

Re letter to editor CVI 18/1/23 Michael Casey, Gulmarrad

Traffic NSW- Regional Roads and Transport Package (RRTRP) is providing a total of $312.5 million to provide funding to upgrade the State and Local Government road network in Northern NSW.

Council endorsed (Item 07.22.060) at the April 2022 Council Meeting, investigation, and design to provide improved flood immunity on both Yamba Road and Iluka Road.

Late in 2022, Council made three separate applications for grants of $10 million each from (RRTRP) in an effort to secure funding to deliver these investigation outcomes.

Two projects (20 M) are for Yamba Rd, which will result in raising the carriagway in two locations, Yamba and Southbank Rd intersection, and Yamba Rd and Shallow Channel, and the third (10 M) is for Iluka Rd carriageway works, at Esk River. If successful, these projects will provide greater flood immunity for Yamba and Iluka communities and their visitors.
