Probus Club of Yamba

The next meeting of Yamba Probus Club will be held on Monday July 6 at the Yamba Bowling Club commencing at 10am. There were 33 members at our June meeting and we were privileged to be thoroughly entertained and informed by Mr Ron Madden, the owner and operator of Big River Milk at Southgate. Mr Madden bought the farm in 2008 after having a varied work history in both the police force and the fire brigade just to mention two. There have been many highs and lows for Ron since going into this business, including three floods which almost wiped him out, and a fire in his fodder storage shed which did massive damage. Ron has continued on despite all of this and has continually sought to improve not only the quality of his milk and cream products but also the variety. We wish him well in his endeavours and will try to support all local business ventures wherever we can. The speaker at our July meeting will be Bev Mansfield who until recently was in business in Yamba. Our outing for July is to be the ‘Presidents Luncheon” which is scheduled for Monday July 11 at the Yamba Bowling Club. Full details available at July meeting. Probus Club is an association of retired or semi-retired people who join together to meet and make new friends. Anyone interested in joining or just visiting are welcome to attend. Jan Mathews
