Ocsober – Ian McKay from Yamba takes a stand against alcohol abuse

Ocsober is in its sixth year and encourages participants to give up alcohol during the month of October to raise awareness of the issues relating to alcohol abuse and raise funds for vital health and drug prevention education for Aussie children. This year Ocsober aims to raise $700,000 and Yamba’s Ian McKay has signed up to support this year’s campaign which began on October 1. If you would like to sponsor Ian or make a donation Ian can be contacted on 6645 8999 or ca121307@a1.com.au Funds raised go directly to Life Education which began over 30 years ago at the Wayside Crisis Centre in Kings Cross. Ted Noffs, the organisations founder was convinced there was a need for a drug and alcohol education program to teach children the skills and knowledge to say to “no” to drugs and alcohol. Life Education started its operations in Sydney in 1979 and is now the largest drug and alcohol education charity reaching 650,000 kids each year. Proven effective it now runs in 13 countries around the world.
