New hospital “wish list”

At the recent meeting of the Maclean Lower Clarence Hospital Auxiliary the president, Sandra Bradbury, welcomed members back from the Christmas break and also introduced two new members, Margaret Solomon and Karen Roberts. The hospital CEO, Dan Madden, addressed the meeting, thanking members for their ongoing work. He presented a new “wish list”, three items of which were immediately authorised for purchase, these being a Bariatric Return Patient Transform Platform, an ECG machine and seven electronic thermometers. Judy Thomas, the Nurse Manager for Yamba, Iluka and Maclean Community Health, thanked the auxiliary for supplying a palliative care bed. She said these beds are in constant use in the community and are of great value. She also thanked members for the portable Ultrasound Doppler which can be taken out to patients in their homes to diagnose ulcers, etc. The Trivia Quiz held at the Maclean Bowling Club recently was very successful with over 120 people taking part and $1380 was raised. President Sandra thanked Den McMahon and the Cricket Club for organising the night, the Bowling Club for hosting it, the bar staff for their donation and members of the community for attending. A fashion parade of pre-loved and new clothes will be held at the Treelands Drive Community Centre in Yamba on Friday April 8 starting at 2pm. Everyone is welcome to come and enjoy the fun, afternoon tea and raffles. The cost is still only $5. The Zone Conference this year is on Wednesday April 27 at Yamba Golf Club. As it is being hosted by the Maclean Lower Clarence Auxiliary all members are urged to attend. It will start at 9.30am and costs $25. The next meeting will be on Monday March 21 at 2pm in the conference room of Community Health at Maclean District Hospital. New members are welcome. Maggie Combley
