Music makers prepare for eisteddfod

The Lower Clarence Music Eisteddfod draws near and our young, and not so young performers are preparing to present their best. The hours spent practising becomes all the more meaningful when a public performance is achieved. In its fifth year, the Lower Clarence Music Eisteddfod, building from strength to strength, provides a vehicle for many of our musicians to reach that goal of public performance. It is very pleasing to see participants coming from the whole Clarence Valley as well as from further afield. Entries are received from young students, adults, choirs, instrumental ensembles and schools. The 2016 Lower Clarence Music Eisteddfod will be staged in the Maclean Civic Hall from Saturday 18th June to Saturday 25th June and provides supportive, adjudicated events for school groups – both vocal and instrumental, pianists, vocalists and a wide range of instrumentalists. Entries close 6th May. While participants are assessed for the awarding of trophies and prize money (in 2015 to the value of nearly $4,000) the emphasis is always placed on the positive learning experience gained through public performance. This year there will be a special public concert on Saturday afternoon 25th June, showcasing some of the more outstanding performances heard earlier in the week. This “Music Eisteddfod Concert” will commence at 2pm. The community is encouraged to attend both the Concert and the Performance sessions to support and enjoy the live music presentation of our developing musicians.
