Grafton mountain bike rider Michelle Newstead is the Grafton Shoppingworld Senior Sportsperson of the Month for January.

Representing Grafton Cycle Club, Ms Newstead is a multiple national champion including claiming her third consecutive Australian MTB 24-Hour Solo National Title for her age division (50-59) at Lithgow in December 2022.

Ms Newstead competes across a range of distances from three-hour events to 24-hour events, and in the past two years has won her age division in every race she has entered, including overall winner at some events.

On May 28, she will look to defend her AusCycling MTB Marathon National title on a technical 83km course at Wagga Wagga.
