Maclean Mens Golf

Thursday saw an influx of visiting golfers with wet weather affecting courses in other areas. Greg Laforest made the most of the trip from Yamba and topped the leader board for the day with a well compiled 38 Stableford points to win on a countback from Graham Edwards. Yamba visitors Andy Wilson and Andrew Bolte were the most accurate to win nearest the pins on the second and seventh holes with locals Leigh Barrington and Terry Lawes taking out the eleventh and seventeenth pins. Club balls went to 32 points on a count back. Saturdays event was a 3 ball best ball event, somewhat novel for the men but proved very popular with a large field taking part. With a third person making up the team scores were not overly high, proving once again the true difficulty of our course. The winners with 51 Stableford points were Wayne Rae, Neville Cowling and new member Graham Reti. Congratulations Graham on your first kill, maybe many more to come. The runners up with 48 points were Phil McGuire, Craig Slater & Chris Moorehead. Club balls went to 45 points. Nearest the pin winners were Leigh Barrington on 2, Peter Saunders on 7, Wayne Mackaway on 11, D Myers on 17 & Geoff Grayson won the Thistle hole. No results to hand for the Monday & Tuesday Chook Run but The TGIF 9 hole event was won by Ken Pavich with nett 21. 9 hole Skins will be on again on Wednesday at 1pm. Next Saturday is the Monthly Medal & will be sponsored by The Maclean Hotel. Matches are now due to be played in the matchplay championships & Clarke O’Keeffe shield, the draw for both is in the Pro Shop so please keep these games moving. Geoff Grayson
