Next edition of Scene on track for success

Emma Pritchard

It’s so good it will have to be ‘scene’ to be believed.

Featuring an abundance of colourful and inspiring characters who will proudly share their stories and life’s adventures with you, our readers, the upcoming edition of Scene magazine will also include an informative guide to the 2023 July Racing Carnival hosted by the Clarence River Jockey Club (CRJC), along with plenty of other local information and standout attractions.

This year, we will take a look at some of the feature races on the program including the 2023 Grafton Cup, 2023 Ramornie Handicap, and the 2023 Maclean Cup, but instead of focusing on the previous winners of these time-honoured events, we will revisit the runner’s up, and see how their careers progressed following their local performances.

Tayla Everson, daughter of Grafton trainer Shane Everson, talks about her love of horses, and the countless hours of hard work, persistence and precision which take place in the stables in the lead up to race days.

And if you’re still unsure of how to pick a winner, we’ve invited a couple of racegoers and punters to share their superstitious betting strategies with you.

It’s all about the numbers, and names, and barriers, and the jockeys’ silks…

We’ll also feature an in-depth guide to the Grafton Greyhound Racing Club’s 2023 July Racing Carnival along with the racing schedule, which will attract some of the best trainers and their greyhounds to the region as they compete for the top prizes on offer.

With plenty of local action racing towards us, the best thing you can do is to race out and grab yourself a copy of Scene magazine – before they all disappear.

  • Winter Scene is due to be released in early June. The magazine will be available at the same collection points as the Clarence Valley Independent.
