Maclean Vets Open Day

Maclean Vets hosted their annual Open Day recently with a great field of approximately 150 players coming from all around the northern rivers area. Once again Byron Bay sent a large group to play in the competition on the Monday, backing up again on Tuesday to play a friendly comp with our own players. A very social time was had by all. Winner of the morning session was our own Graham Roberts with a wonderful 39 points, runner up on a count back was Peter Taylor from Woodburn Evans Head on 38 points from Paul Muldoon from Coraki. Fourth place getter was John Phillips from Maclean on 37 points on a count back from our own Greg Saul. NTP’s: 2 hole – Noel Urane from Casino, 7 hole – Gary Brown from Coraki, 11 hole – John Phillips from Maclean, 17 hole – J Lassig from Casino. Winner of the afternoon competition was Cliff Clothier from Murwillumbah with 36 points, runner up an a count back was John Smail from Yamba with 35 points from David Rutherford from Byron Bay. Fourth place went to John Quirk from Casino with Michael Dilli from Byron Bay coming in fifth with 33 points. NTP’s: 2 hole – Peter Barry from Byron Bay, 7 hole – Cliff Clothier from Murwillumbah, 11 hole – PJ Lake from Ballina, 17 hole – Brett Kerrison from Lismore. The day was very successful with great feedback from our visitors telling us how much they enjoyed their game, the company and our great course which is in magnificent condition at the moment. Vets President Bob Harvey paid tribute to his committee and all the volunteers who helped make our Open Day such a success. We look forward to welcoming all the players back next year for another enjoyable day of golf and friendship. Megan Walsh
