Maclean Men’s Golf
A strong field contested Thursdays single Stableford event which was taken out by Peter Hamilton with a well compiled 40 points.
Bob Battin snuck into 2nd with 38 points. NTP winners were John Parkes on 2, Gregor Simpson on 7, Peter Hamilton on the 11th and Rod Smith on the 17th.
Club balls went to 31 points and visitors came from Yamba, Bermagui, Iluka, Huon Valley, Tocumwal & Blackheath.
Saturdays David Lloyd Memorial Stroke event attracted a large field to chase the much sought after trophy. Life member and sponsor of the event Libby Lloyd attended to make the presentation and thanked the members for their great support. It was one way traffic for Alan Cope who posted an early morning score of 64 nett. This proved insurmountable for the rest of the field, however Daniel Kelly managed a nett 70 and 3rd went to regular Yamba visitor Paul Bamback with a nett 71.
The ladies winner was Cath Parker. NTP’s went to Mark Hemmy, Geoff Grayson, Stewart McDonald, Alan Cope and Bob Battin. Gary Cribb hit the perfect second shot to the 10th to hole out for eagle. Club balls went to nett 75.
Next Saturdays event is a single Stableford for club trophies.
Next Sunday is the inaugural Maclean Chamber of Commerce charity golf day.
Nominations are required by Friday for catering purposes and should be made with David Cooper on 6645 4189. The charity being supported this year is the Maclean Hospital Auxiliary.
This week’s mid week competitions include Monday and Tuesday 9 hole chook runs, Gormos Skins on Wednesday (forget to mark the NTP mate) and Fridays 9 hole par 3 comp.
Our 2 Pennant teams were defeated in the finals on Sunday.
A great meal while you win the weeks supply of meat at the Friday night raffles is a good way to end the working week.
