Today, June 24, Maclean Ladies are playing the final round of the Club Championships. At the start of play we see Pat Harris leading Div 1 by two shots from Sherree Forsythe and Cathy Ayres. In Div 2 Helen Graney holds a commanding lead over Sandra Jenkins and Kim Moore as does Lexie Simmons in Div 3 with Sandra Youlten and Monica closest to her score. Helen Graney is also in the lead for the 54-hole nett competition played in conjunction with Pauline Ryan trailing by 6. Today’s 18-hole Stroke event is sponsored by the Professionals Real Estate in Maclean. Last Wednesday, Cathy Ayres was the Div 1 winner on a c/b from both Pauline Ryan and Shirley Passlow. Pauline then won the c/b to be r/up. Helen McFarlane held the NTP on the 17th. The Div 2 winner was Lexie Simmons from Sandra Youlten with Ros Jacobs taking the NTP on the 2nd. Overall NTP on the 7th (sponsored by Playmore Golf at Yamba) was won by Pat Harris and Chris Powell took the overall NTP on the 11th (sponsored by Sue and John Fong Kee). Nancy Phillips won the overall putting and club balls were awarded to Pat Harris, Chris Forrester, Helen McFarlane, Shirley Passlow, Helen Graney and Kim Moore. Cathy Parker had the best nine in Div 2. Next Week’s ladies competition at Maclean will be a 2bbb Red Ball competition with selected partners sponsored by Kate Hemmy. Coming into the school holidays is a good time to remember the Maclean Golf Club 9-hole chook hunt event each Monday and Tuesday as well as the TGIF Par 3 event on Friday afternoons. All are welcome to take part in these events, you don’t even need a handicap, we will give you one for the day. A great way to try out and see if the golf “bug” will bite.
