Maclean Mens Bowls
Yet another great game of bowls was witnessed at our club last Saturday afternoon when Cliff Vagg played Steve Fuller in the final of the 2015 Club B Grade Singles.
Cliff was making every post a winner as he raced to an early lead. Through precise draw-shots he led Steve eighteen shots to eight and appeared to have the match well in his grasp. Steve had other ideas, with great fighting spirit he played himself back into the match to finally catch Cliff at thirty all on the next to last end. The final end indicated Steve was going to gain an incredible fight back victory when he held two very close shots but Cliff playing his final bowl, with perfect weight and accuracy, managed to disturb the shot bowls and gain the shot for Championship. Congratulations to Cliff a relatively new bowler and a very well done to Steve. Indeed bowls was the winner on the day.
Two other Championship matches were played last week. This Saturday afternoon will see the final of this year’s Club Minor Pairs.
Nominations for the Club Mixed Triples Championship are now open. A sheet is on the board for names. Closing date is Friday August 14.
The next visit to our club will be a mixed one from 32 RSL bowlers this Sunday August 9 for a 10am start. Please more names are required on the sheet on the board to match them, ladies and men are required.
We also have this year’s Past Presidents day at our club on Sunday week, August 16. Names are required from both ladies and men.
