The Maclean BC held the annual Mareeba Aged Care Mixed Bowls Triples Tournament last Saturday, which began under overcast skies in the morning and concluded with the usual Spring afternoon. Mr Peter Forrester representing Maclean Mareeba Aged Care, enlightened those present as to the importance of the establishment for our aging community. He spoke of the types of care, quality facilities, activities that are available, as well as the dedicated staff who care for those in need. The number of teams competing was down on the previous year, however, those teams that played were of good quality and provided for some closely fought games. At the luncheon break there was very little between the top six teams with other teams in contention depending on the afternoon results. With the open draw process this situation became “an organisers delight” particularly as 1st v 3rd and 2nd v 4th in the last game. When the results were tallied the outcome reshaped the final positions with Doug Starr’s team being victorious. Doug in his acceptance speech, acknowledged the organisers and officials and hoped that the sponsors, Mareeba Aged Care of Maclean would continue to sponsor this event next year.
