Maclean & District Bowls
The remaining three matches of Club Open Triples quarter-finals were completed last week.
The semi-finals together with the delayed final of the Club C Grade Singles will be played this Thursday evening at 5pm. The semi-finals are between teams skipped by Kerry Wells v John Deale and Don Plummer v Gary Scott. The final of the singles is between Tom Cross and Peter Hurst. They will be good matches.
Nominations for this years’ Club Open Pairs close this Friday at 5pm. First matches will be scheduled for Sunday afternoon April 3.
District Pennants: The full round for all grades was played last Saturday. Round 2 was played for the No 3 and No 5 Grades and Round 4 for the 6’s and 7’s. We again had mixed success with good wins in the No 3’s and 6’s but went down in the 5’s and 7’s.
The next Round is Saturday week (April 2) after this Easter weekend. We will have our No 3’s at home against Yamba. Our 5’s are away against Iluka. The 6’s at home against Wooli and the 7’s at home against Brooms Head.
Our ten players who were selected in the district teams all acquitted themselves well at Ballina RSL last Sunday in rainy conditions. Well done, although the two trophies played for did not return with us. Northern Rivers – East won the Compass Shield and Tweed Byron District won the Schipp Shield.
Terry’s Travelling Bowlers ‘The Canecutters’ will be having their next trip away to Alstonville Club on Thursday April 14. The bus departs our club at 10am on the day.
