Jennifer Fagan is Yamba’s Club Champion

Jennifer Fagan played consistently well for the four rounds of the Championships to secure her title as Yamba’s 2016 Champion. Her win was well celebrated after the event with B Grade Champion Trish McDermid and C Grade Champion Jen O’Neill, along with many other well-wishers. Annie Green was the 9 holes Champ, but unfortunately Annie had a pressing engagement elsewhere and could not stay to join in the festivities. Congratulations to Jennifer for her wonderful win as well as Trish, Jen and Annie. The final round of the Championships was played under heavy skies with occasional showers and, consequently, the field contesting the Single Stroke event attracted only 39 players. The winner of the event was Allison Caller with 73 net from Jennifer Fagan 75. In third place was Glen Czarnota 77 with Janine Zeitsch winning the gross 97 and Jen O’Neill the putting 31. Ball rundown was to 81 and pins were won by Carolyn Chester – Yamba Medical Centre 3, Margery Allison – Yamba Florist 3/2, Jeannie Doolan – Yamba Pro Shop 9, Noni Rixon – the Shoe Boutique 12, and Irene Williams – The Block 17/2. Mention must be made of Noni’s shot to the 12th because it resulted in a HOLE IN ONE. Congratulations are well in order as Noni has been a fully-fledged 18 holes player for only twelve or eighteen months. An amazing achievement, Noni – well done! The second round of the 9 holes Championships was a Stableford on the back 9 played by 11 ladies and won by Jenny Moody 16 from Erla McGregor 13c/b. Winner of the 12th pin was Maureen Duncan-Watt. Give-away prizes were won by Meg Kulmar – Civic Video, Di Sigle – Priceline Pharmacy, Kim Lipscombe – Spar Supermarket, Yamba – Jill L Brown – Yamba Florist and Jenny Macqueen – Sweet & Spicy Café. The raffle raised $111.00 and was won by Wendy O’Brien. A 2BBB Stableford was played on a beautifully sunny day on Friday and of the 40 players Jennifer Fagan and Carolyn Chester were the winners with 40 points followed by Wendy O’Brien and Kim Lipscombe 39c/b. NTPs were won by Ann Groom – Tom’s Chinese Restaurant 3, Di Sweetman – Retireinvest 3/2, Margaret Solomon – Peter Campbell Physiotherapy 9, Jenny Muir – Kitchen to Table 10, Wendy O’Brien – Yamba’s Fisho 12 and Julie Vernol – Yamba Pharmacy 17/2, whilst pro balls went to 38.
