Iluka Ladies Bowls

At the AGM of Iluka Womens’ Bowls Club on July 15, 2015, the new management committee was elected. The committee is led once again by President Kath Sullivan who is ably assisted by Vice Presidents Michelle Reynolds and Ann McCausland. Lyn Millard is now our secretary and Pat Welsh is returning as treasurer. The match / selection committee is led by chairperson Kaye Becker, while Ann McLean is again the chairperson of the Social committee. The committees had a very busy start to the new bowling year with the annual classic triples taking place within a week of the election. However with the tremendous support of all members this carnival ran smoothly and efficiently. Our southern visitors who join our ranks each year have certainly swelled numbers for our social bowls each Tuesday and Thursday. Our mixed bowls on Thursday is also becoming much more popular and we are also attracting visitors from within our own district. Everyone is welcome to play mixed bowls with us each Thursday morning. Before our triumphant pennant team left for the State titles at Culburra in the Shoalhaven area south of Sydney, they were able to have two practice days. The eight players played a fours game, which is the format of the titles. Our team is now the District and Zone champions and all Iluka bowling members wish them good bowling during this big tournament. On Tuesday August 11, our Consistency Single competition started. There were 16 entries and this was a great response for our third year of this event. Results of the first two rounds are as follows: Round 1: Kaye Becker d Ann Nicholson; Carol Caldwell d Robyn Arthur; Marg Caldwell d Pamela Kennedy; Lyn Millard d Wendy Peachey; Michelle Reynolds d Jenny Bailey; Michelle Swan d Ros Duncan; Shirley MacNeil d Barb Craig; Lyn Connell d Ann McLean. Round 2: Michelle Swan d Kaye Becker; Lyn Connell d Marg Caldwell; Lyn Millard d Michelle Reynolds; Shirley MacNeil d Carol Caldwell Our next big tournament is Hibiscus day which is being held on September 8 this year. It is always a fun day enjoyed by all who play. This is a single entry event comprising one game of triples followed by a delicious luncheon and with lots of beautiful raffle prizes to be won. Entries close on August 27, so please get your entries submitted. There is a nomination sheet on our noticeboard or else entries can be mailed to our secretary care of the Bowls Club.
