Huge weekend of lawn bowls for lower valley

Maclean and Yamba Bowling Clubs will next weekend (Friday July 29 to Monday August 1) co-host the NSW State Grade No.3 Pennant Finals where 16 Zones, including Zone 1 (Bowls Far North Coast), converge on the Region from places far and wide across NSW.
Bowls Far North Coast’s Yamba will contest the State’s finals, at Maclean, after accounting for Northern River’s Lismore City and Tweed Byron’s Condong in the Zone One No.3 Pennant play-offs, in June, to earn passage to the NSW State Pennant finals.
There are seven (7) Pennant Grades finals to be played at various venues across NSW on this same weekend.
The Pennant finals series are played in sections where Four (4) Zones are grouped together with the best club side (Zone), after three (3) rounds progressing to the semi-finals, to be played on Sunday afternoon, with the semi-final winners to play for the State No.3 Pennant (Flag) at Yamba on Monday August 1.
Clarence Valley Council has assisted the two clubs (Maclean and Yamba) to win hosting rights for the NSW State No.3 Pennant finals.
Clarence Valley Mayor Richie Williamson said it was a great pleasure to welcome all competitors and visitors to the 2016 State Grade 3 Pennant finals in Yamba and Maclean.
“The Pennant finals falls within our Sports Tourism Program, which is all about hosting events that attract visitors to the Clarence. We think this is a pretty great place to live and we want to show it off and share it with others who might just think the same.
On behalf of the councillors and our local business Sports Tourism Partners, all the best with the competition and welcome to the Clarence Valley.” Said Mayor Richie Williamson

Sectional play commences at 9am, on Saturday July 30 at the two venues.
Maclean Bowling Club’s Secretary Manager Mark Williams said the club is honoured to co-host the Grade 3 2016 State Pennants play-offs with Yamba Bowling Club and wishes all the Grade 3 teams best of luck at zone level.
“The Maclean & District Bowling Club hosts a proud tradition of bowling achievements having been established as a successful Club since 1929. It is complimented by a superb Chinese and Australian menu and two first class bowling greens,” he said
“I look forward to hosting the Grade 3 teams at Maclean & District Bowling Club this weekend,” he added.
