Heartened

Ed, I have been humbled by the army of 30,000 volunteers from across NSW who joined the Heart Foundation in the fight against heart disease by volunteering to collect or donating to our Big Heart Appeal during September. Sadly more than 1,600 families lost a loved one to heart disease during September; it’s a disease that affects one in six Aussie families – taking a life every 27 minutes. It’s how hope that we can turn this all around by continuing to fund lifesaving research, but we couldn’t do this without the big hearted Australians who took the time to support us during September. For those who donated or collected you can be assured that every donation to the Heart Foundation will help us in the fight against heart disease, the number one killer of Australian men and women. Too many families are still losing loved ones to heart disease, but together we can save lives and stop the heartache. The money raised will be able to put this towards funding around 200 research projects in the hope of finding a cure for heart disease. As a charity, the majority of our funding comes from everyday Australians whose generous gifts are critical to helping us continue our lifesaving work. For that, I say thank you from the bottom of my heart. Kerry Doyle Chief Executive NSW Heart Foundation
