After knocking on the door for some time now, Peter Nielsen recorded a double “possible” in testing conditions at 500 yards to compile the full 100/100 in the third round of the Jacaranda Cup. Peter has been shooting in the Target Rifle Optical division this season after switching from F-Class and despite plenty of 99/100’s, has finally managed to get the lot. With the northeaster breeze blowing up range and switching from side to side, it was always going to be a hard day at the office, with the occasional shot going astray when shooters were caught with right wind on when they should have had left and vice versa. Nevertheless, there were four single stage “possibles”, [50/50], recorded in the Target Rifle division, with the double to Peter Nielsen already mentioned plus one to Phil Donoghue in his first stage, and one to Ian Griffiths in his second. In F-Class the Off-Rifle Honours went to John Black by one point, after a hard fought duel with Nick DeBellis in which both managed to post single stage 59/60’s along the way. In reality the day turned out to be a Donoghue family benefit, with Phil taking both the Off-Rifle Honours and the Daily Aggregate in Target Rifle while Jane walked away with the Daily Aggregate in F-Class for the second week in a row. T/R Scores: Phil Donoghue 50-5 48-2 98-7 4.5 102.5; Peter Nielsen 50-6 50-3 100-9 2.0 102.0; Tony O’Keeffe 47-1 47-2 94-3 4.0 98.0; Mathew Bloomer 48-3 47-3 95-6 3.0 98.0; Ian Griffiths 47-1 50-4 97-5 0.5 97.5; Andrew Geary 47-3 48-6 95-9 1.5 96.5; Derek Higgins 43-0 48-3 91-3 4.5 95.5.
