Grafton ladies golf Wednesday Stableford

Monday March 18

Rain deterred some of the usual players in the 9-hole Stableford, so it was a very limited field of 3 starters in the competition. The conditions turned out to be not as bad as originally anticipated and the winner was Irwin Perring (13).

Wednesday March 20

42 players contested an 18-hole Stableford which was sponsored by Kathy McMullan. The overall winner was Brenda Cooper (38). Winner of Div 1 was Jen Townsend (37), runner-up was Di Alderman (34 c/b), third was Mary Atkins (34 c/b) and fourth was Julie Bennett (33).

Winner of Div 2 was Margaret Hall (34 c/b), runner-up was Karen Napper (34 c/b), third was Jenny Porter (33) and fourth was Dell Burke (31). Balls went down to 29.
NTP winners were Janeen Roberts on the 1st, Di Alderman on the 6th, Pam Kenway on the 10th, Rhonda Studd on the 10th (2nd shot), and Chrissy Danvers on the 17th.

Congratulations to the 3 golfers who scored birdies – Shirley Goodger and Jean Milne on the 1st, and Heather Purtill on the 7th.

The raffle, donated by Gai Leeson, was won by Marylin Powell.

Heather Purtill, who had scored a hole-in-one on the previous Friday, was officially presented with her hole-in-one certificate and badge as well as an eagle badge for her score of just 1 on the par 3.

Friday March 22

Once again, the weather threatened rain at tee-off, so a few of the previously nominated players withdrew from the competition. In the end the rain did not eventuate and there were 16 golfers who completed the 18-hole Stableford. The winner on the day was Vivienne Nichols (38), runner-up was Judy McFarlane (33) and third was Peg James (31). Balls went down to 29. NTP was Jen Townsend on the 1st and Elaine Shand on the 10th.

Saturday March 23

While there was only a small field of 10 starters in the 18-hole Stableford on Saturday, the conditions were ideal. The winner was Kate Thomson (38), runner-up was Karen Napper (33). Balls went down to 31.
