Last Wednesday week was the 2nd round in the 2024 Single Matchplay Knockout and, unlike the previous week, we were blessed with perfect conditions.

With matches completed against Kathy Parker, Lisa Marsh, Mary Hogan and Sue Skelton, it was Fiona Smart, Jennifer Fagan, Fay Gimenez and Leigh Robertson who were through to the next round held last Friday.

This penultimate round of the Singles Matchplay involved only A Graders this year with the results being Jennifer Fagan d Fiona Smart and Leigh Robertson d Fay Gimenez. Commiserations to Fiona and Fay, but well done on reaching the semi-finals. Congratulations and good luck to Jennifer and Leigh who will play off in the Championship round this Wednesday, vying for a place on the Nikki Irwin Salver.

Wednesday’s competition round was a 4BBB Irish Stableford and our ladies were a sea of green and orange. The winners were Gail Scobie, Joy Williams, Gillian Holst and Darrie Nightingale (76 c/b) beating Jill L Brown, Ann Schuhmacher, Jane Bonner and Lynne M White (76). Balls to 73.

Our NTP sponsors and winners: Sassafras 3rd – Sandra Wallace; Yamba Florist, Debbie May 3rd (2nd) – Jo King; SeaFire Restaurant voucher 9th (2nd) – Val Pate; Yamba Fair Butchery 10th – Janine Zietsch; Leonie May Millinery 10th (2nd) – Julie White (Grafton); The Shoe Boutique 12th – Jill L Brown; Clovelly Fashions, Maclean 17th – Darrie Nightingale and The Wobbly Chook 17th (2nd) – Julie White (Grafton).

Wednesday’s Nine-Hole winner in a field of 10 ladies was Jo Scott with another fantastic score (24pts). Shannon Stokes was the runner up (16pts) and Lynne Alford won the NTP.

We only had 18 ladies in our Friday Single Stableford competition, possibly due to early morning showers. The winner was Lisa Marsh (35pts c/b) who edged out Jane Anderson (35pts) by a whisker.

Balls to 30pts c/b.

Our NTP winners: Flots and Jets 3rd – Jenifer Moody; Clarence Valley Chiropractic 3rd (2nd) – Jane Anderson; Seafire Restaurant 9th (2nd) – Darrie Nightingale; Kitchen to Table 10th – Rosalind Judd; Peter Campbell Physio 10th (2nd) – Jo King; Amie Rose Beauty 12th – Noni Rixon; Nicholson Fine Foods 17th – Jeanne Jensen and Yamba Pharmacy 17th (2nd) – Sue Wilson.

Despite threatening skies, there were nine ladies who played in Saturday’s competition. Jane Bonner (35pts) was the winner ahead of Julie Campbell (34pts c/b). Jane also took home the SeaFire Restaurant voucher for winning the NTP.

Congratulations to this week’s winners.
