Grafton Hillclimb this coming Sunday

The 2016 Club Hillclimb Series will commence on Sunday 13th March 9.30am at Mountain View Motor Sport Complex. Our first round will commence with a field of 50 competitors across 12 classes. Although the complex is in need of some rain the forecast is for sunny skies. This should provide spectators with close competition from all competitors. Again in 2016 classes 5, 6 & 12 being Group 3j Club cars and special vehicles make up the majority of the competitors participating. Regular supporters of the club competing in this round include the Hughes Racing Team, with Michael debuting his Holden Gemini alongside his Dad (Dick) and brother (Karl) in their Holden Commodore. Michael will also be driving his Holden Commodore. John Smith our scrutineer will also participate in his immaculate Nissan Skyline. Making a return to the hill after a sabbatical will be Andrew Cant in his LH Torana. John Scutts (Toyota Corolla), Greg Slade (Mitsubishi Lancer), Liam Rolfe (Daihatsu Charade) will be all vying for class honours in Group 3J Club Car 0-2000cc. The mighty Nissan Micra of Ed Laskaj is back! Ed will be driving the silver bullet to the limit again this year (poor little beast). Simon McDonald, Ryan McSwan & Daryl Small fresh from Morgan Park Raceway sprint days will be letting loose in a different way for their first round. Having gained seat time in their cars from Morgan Park they will be eager to demonstrate their skills at Mountain View. Class 12 Special Vehicles sees Bb Carle of Coffs Harbour Sporting Car Club up against eight Grafton Sporting Car Club members. Although a member of a different club Bob could still upset the status quo. Over the summer break the volunteer workers have been busily upgrading the facilities for both the competitors and spectators alike and should be suitable impressed. Most impressive is our 7 new covered pit bay for competitors along with upgraded tyre barriers to the complex Come along to Mountain View Motor Sport Complex at 262 Clarence Way, Mountain View where “we do it off the streets”. The day’s competition begins at 9.30am, entry is free, full canteen facilities and amenities are available. You will also be able to browse to the pits to view competitor vehicles.
