Gem Club
The Gem Club will be taking part in ‘Culture on the Clarence’ in Skinner St South Grafton on Sunday October 25. Come along and see us, there will be fossicking for the kids and minerals and handmade jewellery for sale.
Our Thursday session times have changed to 4pm to 8pm. This is to encourage junior members to come along after school and learn how to work with stones and make things. We are also looking at running workshops for junior members next year. Dates and activities will be advised when projects are decided on.
The Jacaranda Festival is coming up very fast. The club will be open all week from Saturday, October 31 to Saturday, November 7 from 9am to 5pm. Entry fee is $2 and school children are free. There will be lots to look at:- demonstrations of all sorts of jewellery making, displays of minerals, our entry in the Jacaranda competition, fossicking for the kids. Club members will be on hand to talk about anything that you see. Also if you have a rock you are wondering about, bring it along and we will do our best to identify it for you but we can’t promise that we’ll know everything. It’s the ideal time to get unique items for Christmas presents as hand-made jewellery and mineral specimens will be on sale. Look for us at the rainbow flags outside the clubrooms in the Showground.
As always, we are open for working on Tuesdays and Saturdays from 9am to approximately 4pm. Also on Thursday evenings. If you are interested, come along and see us.
