Eighty players greeted the starters on Sunday for the annual GDSC Pipe Band 4 person Ambrose event. There were some good scores and there were some ordinary scores but the best score of the day was a good 27 ½ nett from the winning team of T Ord, N Blanch T Gillett and R Miller, the team only had a handicap of 2 ½ so they had 30 off the stick with a bogey 4 on the 1st, pars on the 2nd and 3rd and then came home with 6 straight birdies, nice team work guys. A good day was had by all and everyone that went back to the GDSC for the BBQ lunch and enjoyed going over their golf game and I am sure there were a lot of hard luck stories told. I am sure that the Pipe Band will be happy with the funds raised from the golf, breakfast and raffles and we all look forward to the event next year. Next Sunday is a Stroke event for the Peter and John Kelleher sponsored Monthly Medal. Starters will be N Reeves and G McInerney with the results to be handled by R Wykes and J Ellis. Sunday August 9 will be a Single Stableford event in conjunction with the 1st round of the Ellem Family Consistency Trophy. Starters will be R Miller and J Leonard with R Finch and R Jenkin to handle the results. Sunday August 16 is a 3 person Ambrose event. Starters will be G Jackson and P Curd with G Mallison and D Tasker to handle the results. Dave Lynch
