Congratulations to our 2015 Rookie Pairs, Jason Ryan/Matt Shorten, who contested the District Round last Saturday to make the Zone playoffs. They ended up tied with the Iluka pair but lost in a count back. Well done seeing as they played in the raining and didn’t finish until 6-30pm under lights. A great effort for our new guys, it great to see our GDSC bowls talent competitive. Good luck to Jason who will travel to Ballina for the Rookie Singles this weekend. Championships saw only one game in the 2015 GDSC Mixed Pairs last Saturday morning. It was a great battle, with some good bowls put down by all, with A & B Williams taking on M Firth/B Buckley. Just before lunch it started to rain and with three ends to play, the match was tied for the last three ends, and at 17/17 on the last end with team Williams holding two shots, B Buckley just missed on his last. Well done to all to finish the game under such atrocious conditions. Wednesday Pairs winners M Cook/H Zegerius and red hot runners up Kaos/R Douglas. Lucky losers were K Whitmore/P Neve/N Hampshire and the XXXX/Tooheys play of the day R/T to C Clark 14-04. The $400 jackpot not won. Friday Pairs / Saturday Mufti / Sunday Mixed Mufti rained out. Our social bowls are back this week, don’t forget names for Mufti Saturday and Mixed Mufti Sunday by 12 noon cards 1pm. Sunday evening bowls start soon. Due to a new match selection committee and please watch the board for championship play, you may be set to play Mixed Pairs or Fours this week-end.
