At Iluka, our GDSC District Senior Fours team made the final, with G Harrison/K Garner/A Knox/K McWaters going down to G Meany’s powerful Yamba side. In the Presidents Reserve Fours the GDSC had two teams meeting in the semi-final. J Ryan/A Gough/Kaos/R2V overcame the oppressive heat to defeat R Marchant/D Brown/P Perkins/J Hall to go into Sundays final against Red Rock at which they went on to display some great team work with every player lifting to another level, putting in some outstanding bowls to demolish Red Rock 37/7. Well done to all who played in the Fours. Bring on the Triples (for which we have a large number of nominations), and good luck to all. Wednesday mufti end of month triples in a word still hot, keeping some off the greens. It was L Newcomb/J O Brien making it to the winners circle. Runners up were P Perkins/T McMillan/B Williams with the lucky losers R Power/Snow/Kaos. The XXXX/Tooheys play of the day saw no one good enough. Yes the $400 jackpot went off. The heat continued on Friday for Mufti Pairs winners A Gough/R Lickiss. Runners up were L Carter/P Perkins. Lucky losers were G Harrison/Macca and the XXXX play of the day went to D Clark 14-09 R/T. The new jackpot $400 was not won. Saturday winners were R Nelson/R Douglas and the play of the XXXX day went to L Nelson 14-00. In other news, if you are in or entered, good luck to all players representing the GDSC Bowls Club your District events. Draws and venues for play are displayed on the board. Those going on Reg’s Tweed Heads trip, the bus departs GDSC at 8am sharp. Dates to remember Next Monday RSL 1st game; Monday Pairs February 8 for a 9am start $10. Fee includes snag sandwich. Tuesday TNT returns February 9 for a 6pm for 6.30pm start. Thursday Mixed TNT returns February 11 from 6pm for 6.30pm start. Saturday February 13 is District Triple and a Pennant trial for No 5 & No 7 teams at home not involved in District play.
