GDSC Fours Championship

It has been another busy week on the greens. Firstly, I would like to congratulate this years Club Fours Champions Darren Brown, Allan Gough, Barry Williams and Ray Grant who were too strong on the day for their opponents, the team skipped by Jamie Pye. Ray’s team were put together in the last minute however, in this game they got off to a great start and maintained their momentum throughout the entire match to record a 29 to 12 victory. Well done and well played to all who participated in this entertaining game.

The Club Singles semi-finalists were decided on the weekend. The first to book his place was M Walsh who looked in ominous form defeating T Dalton 31 to 10. He will be facing G Harrison who played too well for G Taylor, winning 31 to 12.

The other semi-final game will be between K Garner, who won over K Evans 31 to 9, and G Maxted who held off a determined A Knox 31 to 26. These are shaping up to be great games of singles and will be played this Saturday afternoon at the GDSC.

Friday had 36 bowlers at the GDSC enjoying the conditions. Winners were S McClymont and M Walsh, with B Hall and T MacDonald coming out as runners up and A Graham and D Brown coming out as the Lucky Losers. There were only two good bowlers on the day but the Tony’s Handyman and Home Maintenance resting toucher went to P Heath with an early time of 13:20.

Wednesday saw 38 bowlers on the GDSC greens. The day’s winners prize was won by T Glass and L Basset whilst L Perrett and L bond were the day’s runners up. Wednesdays Lucky Losers were T MacDonald and P Goratschow. The Tony’s Handyman and Home Maintenance resting toucher prize was won by B Elder with a time of 13:59.

Tuesday night TNT bowls is nearly at the halfway mark and the Humble Pyes are still leading with 25 points. They have opened up a lead over second place Ken’s on 19 and Dodgers on 18 points. The nights winners were 3 Shades of Grey, with The RP’s coming out as runners up and Woodies as the Lucky Losers. The Clarence Valley Wholesalers resting toucher on Green 1 was won by B Napper with a time of 18:57 whilst on the Abbey Motor In resting toucher prize on green 3 was won by P Sutton with a time of 19:25. Get down to the GDSC on Saturday to watch some great bowls being played, both in the singles and in the first of the major pairs games, well done to the triples teams who are still flying the flag in the District Triples.
