Grafton women’s golf

Wednesday February 26

We played a 18 hole Stableford again with heavy course conditions. With the grass growing and the rough getting longer there was plenty of ball searching for the erratic shots that didn’t want to stay on the fairways. Bunkers were out of play, due to water damage. Of the 48 starters who contested the event sponsored by The Flame Tree Coffee Shop, the overall winner on the day was the inform golfer, Jen Townsend with 34 points.  Division 1 winner, Kathy McMullan had 31 points 1 point better than runner-up Millie Harris on 30; a countback was required for third and fourth place (27 points) with Janette Blair taking third and Ann Gibbons fourth. Division 2 went to Julie Bennett on 25 points from June Newsome 24 with third, Gai Leeson 20 and fourth Bev Snowdon 19.  NT. on the 1st was Glenda Chad, 6th Brenda Cooper, 10th Kaye Murdoch and 17th Millie Harris.
